Jaret

Dr. Jaret A. Beane

Dr. Beane  is a 1999 graduate of Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He completed a General Surgery Residency at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and following his residency, remained in the Grand Rapids area to begin his practice.  Prior to medical school, he completed a Master's of Health Sciences focusing on anatomy and physiology.  Dr. Beane's curriculum vitae (resumé) is available for your review.

Dr. Beane has also completed training in advanced wound care and hyperbaric wound therapy.  He is the Medical Director of MetroHealth's Wound Healing Center. 

Dr. Beane is board certified in General Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.  He is also a member of SAGES (Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons), the ASMBS (American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, formerly known as ASBS), and other professional organizations.

He has full privileges at MetroHealth Hospital, and courtesy privileges at Spectrum Hospitals in Grand Rapids.

 

 

Dr. Joseph G. Sage

Dr. Sage joined Grand River Surgery in July 2008. He brings a wealth of vascular surgery experience to Grand River Surgery.

Dr. Sage medically and surgically manages peripheral vascular disease, including a variety of vascular and endovascular surgeries, as well as therapeutic and cosmetic vein care.  Vascular ultrasound for his patients can be performed in our office, decreasing the amount of time your patients spend in diagnostic evaluation.

Therapeutic and cosmetic vein procedures can be performed in our HealthPark office.  He also serves the Sheridan/Greenville area at Sheridan Hospital.

Dr. Sage is board certified in Vascular Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. He maintains several professional organization memberships.

He also has full privileges at MetroHealth Hospital, and courtesy privileges at Spectrum Hospitals in Grand Rapids.

 

 

Kenneth D. Minks

Dr. Kenneth D. Minks

Dr. Minks is a 1999 graduate of Loyola's Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery in 2004 at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago.  Dr. Minks joins us from Scott Air Force Base, Illinois where he spent four years as a general surgeon in the United States Air Force. 

Dr. Minks practices the full spectrum of general surgery, and has particular interests in advanced laparoscopic surgery, bariatrics, and trauma surgery. He has also completed training in advanced wound care and hyperbaric wound therapy. 

Dr. Minks is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He also maintains several professional organization memberships.

He has full privileges at MetroHealth Hospital, and courtesy privileges at Spectrum Hospitals in Grand Rapids.

 

 

Rachel

Rachel Dickerson

Rachel Dickerson, APRN-BC, NP, joined Grand River Surgery in 2006.  She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Valley State University in 2000.  In 2005, she obtained a Masters of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University.  Rachel is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Rachel is our Lap Band Coordinator and works tirelessly to help patients through the pre- and post-op programs.  She works with insurance companies to help patients with the approval process.

She has also completed advanced training in wound care and hyperbarics and practices at MetroHealth's Wound Healing Center.

 

 

 

 

Jennifer London

Jennifer London, MA, LLPC, joined us in 2007. She received her Bachelor of Arts in communications from Aquinas College and completed her Masters of Arts in Counseling Education/Community Counseling at Western Michigan University. She brings 15 years of mental health care experience to Grand River Surgery. Jennifer is integral to our Lap Band Program. For our pre- and post-operative patients, Jennifer leads the group sessions that focus on behavior modification and obesity management strategies. The group sessions are available to those patients enrolled in the program.

 

 

Katie Throop

Katie Throop, RD, joined us in August 2007. She received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Western Michigan University, where she completed her degree magna cum laude. She completed a dietetics internship at the University of Michigan Hospitals & Health Centers. She has been working with us to provide continuity of diet instruction at MetroHealth Hospital, and has now transitioned into our practice. She provides one on one diet counseling and leads diet behavior-focused group sessions.

Diane and Laura are two experienced vascular ultrasound technicians who work with Dr. Sage to perform many types of imaging studies in our office.

Deb is our surgical educator to help explain surgeries in greater detail and assists in all aspects of patient education.

Andrea, Janet, Joanna, Karen H, Karen R, Kim, Melissa and RuthAnn are our helpful staff members who strive to provide our patients a superior experience.
